Finance Business Partner: typically a finance professional aligned to a business unit and responsible for operating as a strategic partner and member of the senior management team.
Their remit is to enhance the quality of business decision-making, develop financial competence and support and challenge the team.
The partner understands business drivers and manages key stakeholder relationships to ensure business needs and service requirements are met, and will also work closely with colleagues across the Finance community to input into wider financial strategy.
Whilst the job title of Finance Business Partner is increasingly popular, it is not used universally, with some organisations preferring to retain traditional job titles, such as Finance Manager and Financial Controller. The job title, however, is secondary to the key purpose of the role, which is about the transition from financial analyst or relationship manager to strategic partner
